The mother of a 2012 rape-murder victim has written to the Dharmasthala Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a narco-analysis on C N Chinnaiah.
Chinnaiah is the complainant in the Dharmasthala secret burials case, where he has alleged that he was forced to bury several bodies and was threatened not to approach the police. The complainant was arrested last Saturday for perjury and is currently under judicial custody.
In the letter to SIT chief Pronab Mohanty, the victim’s mother claimed that Chinnaiah’s sister told the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) that her brother was forced to flee Dharmasthala as he received threats following the 2012 rape and murder.
Also referring to an interview given by Chinnaiah to a YouTube channel, she said that one Ravi Poojary had revealed the names of those behind her daughter’s rape and murder. Poojary was subsequently killed to protect the culprits, she alleged in the letter.
Moreover, she pointed out that Chinnaiah contended that he had buried several bodies at Mannasanka, where her daughter’s body was found. “This shows that there were also plans to bury her body. I urge you to conduct a narco-analysis on Chinnaiah to verify the same,” she said in the letter.
The SIT was formed on July 19, a fortnight after an FIR was registered in connection with the secret burials case based on Chinnaiah’s complaint. The SIT exhumed multiple locations in the first two weeks of August to collect evidence.
