The police received an emergency call around 5:30 PM on Wednesday about a child being assaulted. When officers arrived, they found the young girl crying and bleeding from her private parts. She was immediately taken to SRHC Hospital for a check-up and later moved to BSA Hospital for further specialised treatment.
Rizwan confessed to the police that he was walking around while drunk and saw the girl alone. He took her to an empty room nearby and committed the crime, admitting that he locked the door from the inside to stop anyone from interrupting him. Police confirmed that Rizwan did not know the victim before this happened, and he has been sent to judicial custody.
The girl was rescued by her teacher. When the child didn’t show up for her lessons, her teacher and some students started searching. A student heard the girl crying from the second floor of a nearby building. The teacher and others rushed there, rescued the girl, and caught Rizwan. A group of people in the area beat him before the police arrived to take him into custody.
Police have filed a strong case against the accused, registering an FIR under sections of kidnapping, rape, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Crime and forensic teams have inspected the scene and collected evidence. The investigation is ongoing to see if Rizwan may be linked to any other similar past crimes, and the victim is receiving necessary counselling support. Her identity is being kept secret to protect her privacy, following Supreme Court rules.
