The Dabaspet traffic police said the accident occurred soon after Sudheendra had made a phone call to his brother, Raghavendra, for help. Raghavendra, who was speaking to Sudheendra at the time of the accident, told the police that his brother had come to visit him early on Tuesday to show his new car, which he had bought on Monday. Sudheendra also took the family out for a drive before dropping them back near their residence.
Around 15 minutes later, Sudheendra called his brother after the car failed to start on the Pemmanahalli bridge. Sudheendra had parked the car on the left side of the road.
The traffic police have registered a case against Vedakumar under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation has also been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident, focusing on possible driver fatigue as well as negligence.
Sudheendra is a known face on Kannada television channels and has appeared on programmes including Dance Show.
