Undoubtedly, the Cooking Superstar of Karnataka is Sihi Kahi Chandru. He is backed by his humble wife Sihi Kahi Geetha, who has supported him in reaching great heights. One personality doing 1600 shows on the small screen is indeed a milestone. ‘Bombat Bhojana’ Season 6 begins from October 27 on Star Suvarna. In the afternoon slot, the No. 1 position goes to this program, and naturally, the revenue and ratings are very comfortable for Star Suvarna.

In the history of Kannada television, if there is one cooking show that has set a record, it is Star Suvarna Channel’s ‘Bombat Bhojana.’ Having crossed more than 1600 episodes and created a new milestone, this show has already successfully completed five seasons. Now, bringing even more freshness, it is all set to return before viewers with its 6th edition, telecasting from Monday, October 27, at 12 noon on Star Suvarna Channel.
To share more information about this, a press conference was organized where Sihi Kahi Chandru, Sihi Kahi Geetha, writer M.S. Narasimha Murthy, Dr. Gauri Subramanya, and Star Suvarna Channel Business Head Raj Nigam were present.
“With all your encouragement, our popular Bombat Bhojana program has successfully completed five years and is stepping into its sixth year. From this Monday, October 27, Bombat Bhojana Season 6 will begin. The show will be aired at 12 noon. For the first time, a single person has hosted 1500 episodes of a cooking-related program. Having received the blessings of Sigandur Shri Chowdeshwari, I have started Season 6.
With the tagline ‘By the people, for the people, of the people,’ every segment of this season will feature the audience. There will even be fan devotees. Altogether, this season is dedicated to the people.
As for what this season includes:
Vishesha Bhojana (Special Feast): Showcasing delicious recipes and fulfilling cooking requests sent by fans through letters and calls.
Aarogya Bhojana (Healthy Feast): Dr. Gauri Subramanya will share useful home remedies for viewers.
Special Bhojana: Visiting ladies’ clubs in various districts, mingling with locals, and preparing unique dishes together.
Hita Bhojana: Common people and celebrities will participate and share their culinary skills.
Bhoori Bhojana: Traveling across Karnataka, visiting hotels, tasting their popular dishes, and introducing them to the audience.
Saha Bhojana: Making surprise entries into people’s homes, tasting the food they’ve prepared, sharing a meal, chatting with them, taking photos on the spot, and presenting a certificate.
Gruha Bhojana: Traveling across districts, visiting viewers’ homes, serving tasty dishes personally cooked by me, and gifting them an idol of Goddess Chowdeshwari from Sigandur Temple so that the deity may always reside in their home.
Bala Bhojana: A new segment for children, featured every Friday, where kids and their parents take part and learn to make tasty dishes.
To make common people feel like celebrities, a board reading ‘Sihi–Sahi’ has been placed. I thank Star Suvarna Channel and the audience who have continued to support the show,” said Sihi Kahi Chandru.
“That’s not all. Even abroad, Chandru’s cooking is very famous. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. My wife too often tries the new dishes that Chandru teaches. It’s truly delightful to see a cooking show gain such immense popularity,” said writer M.S. Narasimha Murthy (MSN). Known for his wit and humor, MSN said that just like ‘Akki-Bele’ is essential for cuisine, it is like bat and ball in cricket — both gaining great importance for his top-class dishes. “Not even a single wrong comment has come out so far,” he fondly described.
“The reason Chandru’s cooking turns out so well is because he always cooks happily. His enthusiasm is truly something to be proud of,” said Dr. Gauri Subramanya. “It is a God’s gift, and Chandru’s dedication carries it forward with acclaim,” said Gauri Amma, affectionately known for the ‘Home Remedies’ segment in Bombat Bhojana, which is very popular. She explained three instances where people experienced positive changes in their lives after following her tips. She also revealed that Sihi Kahi Chandru himself was cured of a kidney stone using one of her remedies — a stunning disclosure indeed.
Sihi Kahi Geetha expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the program. On the same occasion, the Bombat Bhojana book was also released. Of course, for the media, a special Bombat Bhojana meal was served after the briefing.
When asked, “Who does the vessel cleaning after Sihi Kahi Chandru’s cooking sessions?” Chandru laughingly replied, “I do it with pleasure! Vessel cleaning is a stress buster — you can even show your anger while cleaning!”
From ‘Nalapaka’ in 1988 on Bengaluru Doordarshan, Sihi Kahi Chandru has grown meticulously over four decades — as an actor, writer, director, producer, and now, as a superstar cook!
