The teaser of the Kannada film Congratulations Brother has gone viral, drawing attention for its unconventional presentation. Earlier, the film had created a buzz with its title, and the teaser continues that momentum.
The teaser opens in a familiar format often seen in theatres before a movie begins—typically used for anti-smoking and health awareness messages. In place of that, the teaser shows emotionally intense visuals related to heartbreak and romantic struggles, ending with the line, “Give up on love… For more information, contact—” mimicking a public service announcement.
The teaser, centered on a love story, was recently screened in theatres alongside the films Ekka and Junior. It features a narrative involving a young man caught between two women, portrayed in a curious and emotionally engaging manner.
The film stars newcomers in most key roles, with veteran actor Shashikumar playing an important character. Directed by Pratap Gandharva, the film is produced by Prashanth Kallur under the banners of Pen & Paper Studios and Kallur Cinemas. Noted filmmaker Hari Santhosh has written the story and serves as the film’s creative head.
Rakshith Nag plays the lead, marking his debut in a feature film. He is joined by Sanjana Das and Anusha, both of whom are also making their film debuts. Sanjana plays a bold and independent character, while Anusha was selected through auditions.
The supporting cast includes Rakshith Kapu, Sudarshan, and Chetan Durga. Music is composed by Suraj Jois, and cinematography is by Guruprasad. Harish Reddy is the co-producer, and Sreekanth Kashyap serves as the executive producer.
The film was shot in multiple locations including Karwar and Bengaluru. According to the makers, the plot reflects a situation where, in contrast to usual circumstances, a boy unexpectedly finds himself involved with two girls—prompting the title Congratulations Brother.
This is Prashanth Kallur’s debut as a lead producer, having previously co-produced two to three films. It is also the directorial debut of Pratap Gandharva, with creative backing from Hari Santhosh.
The team has stated that the film is progressing as planned and is expected to release soon.
