Bengaluru’s CMR University has rolled out a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-certified drone pilot training course, adding a futuristic dimension to engineering education. The initiative was unveiled on September 15, marking Engineer’s Day, during the launch of its new undergraduate programmes in B.Tech and B.Arch for the academic year 2025–26.

The announcement took place at the university’s Lakeside campus in Bagalur, where more than 750 participants, including students, faculty members, and guests, attended the celebration. The event emphasized the institution’s commitment to preparing students for evolving industries by blending conventional academics with skill-based training.

The newly introduced drone pilot certification is expected to open career opportunities in areas ranging from agriculture and infrastructure monitoring to logistics and surveillance. By embedding such specialized training into its academic framework, the university aims to align its students with the rapid advancements in unmanned aerial systems and related technologies.
In addition to the academic launches, the event featured addresses by senior faculty and guest speakers who spotlighted the relevance of emerging technologies such as drones and semiconductors in shaping future careers. The day concluded with a student-led project exhibition, offering a platform to display innovative ideas and technical capabilities.
Through this combined academic expansion and industry-linked training, CMR University seeks to foster innovation-driven education while equipping its students with the skills required to thrive in high-growth technology sectors.
