Congress leadership signals unity as Siddaramaiah visits Shivakumar for a special breakfast featuring the CM’s favourite dish, amid ongoing political undercurrents.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set for a special breakfast engagement at Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s residence on Tuesday, December 2, in a meeting that combines political messaging with a personal touch. In keeping with Siddaramaiah’s well-known fondness for traditional village-style cuisine, the host family has decided to prepare nati koli saaru, a dish the CM particularly enjoys.

The gesture stands out because Shivakumar himself has stopped consuming non-vegetarian food on the advice of the Nonnavinakere Kadasiddeshwara Mutt seer. Despite this, his family has chosen to serve the CM’s preferred dish as part of an extended breakfast menu expected to feature multiple traditional items.
This visit marks only the second time in two to three years that Siddaramaiah will step into Shivakumar’s home. Their previous meeting at the residence was during the 2023 Assembly election campaign. The renewed engagement comes just days after Shivakumar visited the CM’s Cauvery residence, where the two leaders shared a simple breakfast of idli and uppittu, signalling warmth amid persistent speculation over power-sharing and internal pressures.

According to party circles, the Congress high command has encouraged both leaders to present a united front during the ongoing Parliament Session, particularly at a time when discussions around Karnataka’s political dynamics have gained traction in national media. The breakfast meeting aims to project stability, harmony and coordination within the state government.
The CM and DyCM are expected to appear together before the media, reiterating their message of cooperation. Even as the optics emphasise unity, political observers are watching how developments unfold in March and April, key months for Karnataka’s Congress government as internal equations continue to evolve.
