The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday foiled an infiltration attempt along the International Border (IB) in Jammu’s Pargwal sector, and arrested a militant affiliated with the Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The suspect, identified as Abdul Khalik, was captured early today after heightened surveillance detected suspicious movements in the area over the past two days.
Security sources revealed that Khalik, originally from Jammu and Kashmir, had exfiltrated to Pakistan in 2021 for training and was attempting to re-enter Indian territory. Preliminary investigations suggest he was acting as a guide or key operative to facilitate the entry of a larger JeM group, leveraging his knowledge of the local terrain.

An MP5 rifle, along with a loaded magazine containing 10 rounds and an empty drum magazine, was recovered from his possession during the arrest.
Following his apprehension, Khalik was handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police at Police Post Pargwal under Police Station Khour for further legal proceedings and interrogation.
Central intelligence agencies are involved in the questioning to uncover details about his handlers, potential accomplices, and intended targets within the region. The arrest comes amid intensified border patrols in Jammu, following reports of reactivated terror launchpads across the border. A large-scale search operation is ongoing in the Pargwal sector to ensure no additional threats have crossed over.
A few days ago, BSF’s Deputy Inspector General Vikram Kunwar had said that Pakistan has once again activated 72 terror launch pads in its border areas opposite Jammu region. He had said that while 12 terror launch pads have become active near the International Border in Pakistan’s Sialkot and Zafarwal areas, another 60 launch pads have come up in the areas across the LoC near Jammu. General Kunwar had added that two to three terrorists are kept in such launch pads.
