The Bhubaneswar–Junagarh Road–Bhubaneswar Superfast Express (20837/20838) has undergone a complete transformation with the introduction of modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches in both directions, promising passengers a safer, more comfortable, and efficient travel experience.
The fully upgraded service will commence from Bhubaneswar on August 25, 2025, and from Junagarh Road on August 26, 2025, marking a significant milestone in Indian Railways’ efforts to modernise its fleet.
Previously, the train operated with a mix of one LHB rake and one conventional Integral Coach Factory (ICF) rake. With this upgrade, both rakes in the up and down directions will now feature state-of-the-art LHB coaches, known for their superior safety features, smoother rides, and enhanced passenger amenities.
This development follows the initial conversion of one rake to LHB coaches on August 8, 2025, and completes the transition for the entire service.
The new train composition includes:
- 2 Second AC coaches
- 4 Third AC coaches
- 5 Sleeper Class coaches
- 4 Second Class seating coaches
- 1 Guard-cum-Power Car
- 1 Guard-cum-Second Class coach with facilities for Divyangjan passengers
This upgrade significantly improves passenger comfort, with features like jerk-free travel, better suspension systems, and enhanced interiors. The inclusion of a dedicated coach for Divyangjan passengers underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to inclusivity. The LHB coaches also boast advanced safety features, such as anti-collision technology and fire-resistant materials, ensuring a secure journey for all.
The Bhubaneswar–Junagarh Road Superfast Express plays a vital role in connecting Odisha’s coastal and tribal regions with major towns in Andhra Pradesh and the state capital, Bhubaneswar. This modernisation strengthens rail connectivity, facilitating smoother travel for commuters and boosting regional accessibility.
The transition to LHB coaches reflects Indian Railways’ broader push toward modernising its fleet, enhancing operational efficiency, and prioritising passenger satisfaction. Travellers can now look forward to a more comfortable and reliable journey on this key route.
