A police inspector in Bengaluru has filed a complaint against a woman alleging that she threatened him to enter into a relationship with her, and said she would die by suicide if he refused her advances.
The woman also claimed to be a Congress worker and a close associate of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. She also reportedly sent photographs showing her with senior Congress leaders, such as C Motamma and Laxmi Hebbalkar, and threatened to leverage political influence if the inspector did not respond to her advances.
Satish G J, Inspector, Ramamurthy Nagar police, filed a complaint on December 12, saying he was being persistently harassed by the woman. Satish, who took charge as the inspector on August 19, said he started receiving messages on WhatsApp on his official number on October 30.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the woman identified herself as Sanjana, also known as Vanaja, and spoke incoherently during her calls, professing her love for Satish and demanding that he reciprocate.
“Initially, Satish ignored it as prank messages, but he started getting the messages from multiple numbers. Though he blocked them, he started getting phone calls later,” a police officer said.
The matter escalated when the police station received a call from the Home Minister’s Office and the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office, inquiring why Inspector Satish was not attending to her case. The inspector said the woman had never visited the station to file any legitimate complaint and was behaving irrationally.
However, sources said the woman came to the police station during Satish’s absence, and claimed he was his relative. She also left a bouquet and a box of sweets for him, they added.

According to Satish, the woman walked into his office on November 7 while he was attending to public complaints and handed him an envelope containing three letters reportedly written using her blood and strips of tablets labelled ‘Nexito Plus’, an anti-depressant.
“The letters reportedly contained love confessions and disturbing suicide threats, stating that she would end her life if her love were not accepted, and holding the inspector responsible for her death. One note allegedly featured a heart symbol with the words ‘Chinni love you, you love me,’ allegedly written with her blood,” Satish stated in his complaint.
The inspector filed the complaint after the woman allegedly returned to the police station on December 12, raised her voice, professed her love publicly, and threatened suicide if the inspector did not reciprocate. She also allegedly threatened to damage his reputation.
Despite repeated explanations that he was a public servant and that her calls were obstructing official duties, the woman, a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar, allegedly continued her persistent demands, said the police officer.

The Ramamurthy Nagar police registered a case under sections 132 ( assault or using criminal force against a public servant), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 221 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their public functions) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
They said they are continuing to probe the matter.
