A 21-year-old young woman sustained critical injuries after she fell from the fourth-floor balcony of a hotel in Bengaluru while trying to escape through a drain pipe when police arrived following a complaint Sunday morning, said the police.

Vaishnavi, a BBA graduate who recently started working at a private firm, was with her friends to celebrate a birthday party and booked three rooms at Sea Esta hotel in AECS Layout, said the police. The incident took place around 5 am when Vaishnavi and her friends were allegedly playing loud music, they said.
According to the police, one of the people staying at the hotel called the emergency helpline to report loud music, and the HAL police arrived at the lodging. According to the police, they recorded video footage of the group and instructed them to leave the place.

However, Vaishnavi, frightened by the police’s arrival, allegedly rushed to the balcony and tried to get down by holding onto the drain pipe. She fell to the ground and struck an iron railing, sustaining serious injuries, according to the police. Her friends and the police shifted her to a private hospital, and a police officer said her condition is critical.
The woman’s father, who spoke to the media, said that his daughter was with her cousin. She panicked upon seeing the police recording videos and tried to flee, he said.
He also alleged that the property’s safety standards were not up to par. Based on the woman’s father’s complaint, the HAL police registered an FIR and said that a thorough investigation is underway to examine the roles of hotel management, staff members, police personnel, and others involved.
A senior police officer refuted the allegation that the police demanded money from the inmates, saying that the personnel were wearing body cameras at the time of the aid.
