A policeman got injured while attempting to intervene in a fight between the families of a man and his ex-wife in Bengaluru on Friday.
The police said one Tabrez Pasha alias Chor Tabrez, who had recently completed a prison sentence for murder, approached his ex-wife Muskan, who had remarried, leading to heated arguments between them.
Pasha and his relatives confronted Muskan’s current husband at her mother’s place in Valmiki Nagar, and a fight broke out between them. Muskan’s maternal uncle, Mohammed Shafiullah, who was visiting his sister at the time, got injured when he tried to intervene.
Head Constable Santhosh from Chamarajpet police station was dining at a nearby restaurant when he was alerted to the violence. When he intervened, Pasha overpowered him and slit his wrist before fleeing with three of his relatives from the spot.
A Hoysala patrol unit arranged an ambulance for both Santhosh and Shafiullah and admitted them to the hospital. The two men were reportedly out of danger and recuperating under treatment.
The police successfully tracked down and arrested Pasha and his three accomplices following the incident.
