A 31-year-old Bengaluru woman died after falling to the ground from the Bachahalli Gate flyover in Devanahalli, following a head-on collision with a speeding car in the wee hours of Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Nethravathi. The victim was traveling with her husband Shivu on their scooter when a car coming from the wrong direction struck their vehicle around 12.30 am. The impact threw Nethravathi off the flyover, resulting in a 20-foot fall and fatal head injuries.
The couple, residents of Banaswadi, was heading to Chikkaballapur to visit Nethravathi’s mother, who had recently undergone eye surgery. They also planned to collect their children, who were staying with their maternal grandmother.
Shivu, who operates a roadside tea shop, sustained minor injuries. The car driver immediately fled the scene after the collision.
The Devanahalli traffic police have registered a case and are analysing nearby CCTV footage to identify and trace the absconding driver and vehicle.
BMTC bus kills 11-year-old boy
An 11-year-old boy died after being run over by a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus on Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Shabarish, a resident of GM Palya. The incident took place near SJP Road under Halasuru Gate police station limits on Sunday evening, around 6.40 pm.

Shabarish was riding pillion with his uncle and aunt on a two-wheeler when the BMTC bus, traveling from Market Road toward Town Hall, collided with their vehicle on SJP Road. The impact threw the boy off the motorcycle, and the bus’s rear wheel ran over him, killing him on the spot.
His uncle and aunt sustained minor injuries in the accident. The Halasuru Gate traffic police have registered a case, detained the bus driver, and seized the vehicle for investigation.
Following the death, Shabarish’s family members and locals gathered outside the Halasuru Gate traffic police station and staged a demonstration.
