A 26-year-old software engineer in Bengaluru city was allegedly drugged and robbed of gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 6.89 lakh by a woman he met through a dating application.
The incident took place on November 1 but came to light a week later when he approached the Indiranagar police to file a complaint, the police said on Tuesday.
According to the First Information Report, the man met the woman named Kavipriya on the Happn dating application two months ago. After a couple of conversations online, they decided to meet in person at a restaurant in Indiranagar on November 1.
The police said that the couple left the restaurant around midnight after consuming alcohol, and they went to the nearby Octave Crystal Heights Lodge, where the woman had booked a room. She allegedly told the man that she was not in a state to return to her Paying Guest (PG) facility, the police said.
The software engineer also resides in a PG accommodation at Nagasandra, said an officer.
The man stated in the FIR that they had food, which was ordered by Kavipriya through the Zepto app, around 12.30 am on November 2. Later the woman gave him a tumbler of water, and on drinking it, he fell asleep. The engineer regained consciousness in the morning and discovered that Kavipriya had fled with his valuables, the officer said.
According to the victim, the woman had made away with a gold chain worth Rs 3.22 lakh, a 30-gram gold bracelet worth Rs 3.45 lakh, Rs 10,000 cash, and a headset worth Rs 12,000.

The police said that though the victim tried to contact Kavipriya, her phone was switched off. He filed the complaint a few days later, fearing that the woman would have taken his private photos. The police suspect that the woman had sedated him either through food or water.
The police have registered a theft and cheating case under sections 303 (2) and 318 (4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
