A political storm has erupted in West Bengal over a viral video on social media, which shows a man making a shocking threat at the foundation-laying ceremony of the so called ‘Babri Mosque’ in Murshidabad.
The event, organised by local politician Humayun Kabir, who was recently suspended by the ruling Trinamool Congress party (TMC), was scheduled for Saturday, 6th December 2025. The naming of a new mosque as ‘Babri Masjid‘ by the organisers drew a large gathering of people to witness the laying of its foundation stone, with even a cleric coming from Saudi Arabia.
The viral video shows a man making a serious threat of violence against anyone who might object to the mosque’s construction. In a highly inflammatory statement, the man is heard shouting, “If anyone tries to stop us from building the Babri Masjid, we will cut off their heads and play football with them.” He was also seen cheering for the organiser, Humayun Kabir.
Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT cell, shared the video and criticised the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee. Malviya said this open threat proves that law and order in the state is failing and claims that Bengal is being systematically turned into an “Islamic state.”
West Bengal is slipping into darkness under Mamata Banerjee.
Today in Murshidabad, at the foundation-stone laying ceremony of a Mosque being called “Babri Masjid”, TMC’s vote-bank openly threatened:

Malviya further accused the Chief Minister of allowing this kind of “state-sponsored fundamentalism.” He contended that naming the mosque ‘Babri’ is to provoke and humiliate people and insisted that Hindu Bengalis are being treated like “second-class citizens.” He called for the complete defeat of the Mamata Banerjee government’s “minority appeasement” politics to “Save Bengal” before the 2026 elections.
Meanwhile, Humayun Kabir, who was suspended by the TMC for planning this controversial event, called the mosque project a constitutional right and a “prestige battle for Muslims.” Earlier, the Calcutta High Court had directed the state police to ensure that law and order were strictly maintained during the highly sensitive event.
Despite the threats, local people are demanding strict action by the state government against the man seen in the video.
