Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, who is in jail in several cases over riots related to “I Love Muhammad” posters in Bareilly, now has been booked in a land grab case. Bareilly police registered a fresh First Information Report (FIR) on 13 December 2025 against him, his brother-in-law Mohsin Raza, and 8 other individuals in relation to the case, the police said in a statement today.
The FIR, lodged at Izzatnagar police station, accuses the group of using threats, harassment, and criminal intimidation to illegally seize a plot of land belonging to a resident of Rehpura Chaudhary in Bareilly. According to the official police statement, the complaint was filed by Layeba, daughter of Shakir Beg, narrating how her ailing father had been subjected to prolonged mental and physical torment by Tauqeer Raza, Mohsin Raza and others.
Layeba said that her father old and ill, and taking the advantage of his situation, her uncle Shariq Beg, Taufeeq Beg, Shahid Beg, Shakir Beg, and Shadiq Beg, conspired to forcibly transfer her father’s property into their names with the help of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and his associates.

The complaint stated that the accused threatened her father with weapons and issued death threats. At one occasion, Maulana Tauqeer Raza’s brother-in-law Mohsin Raza Khan, Ikram Beg, and Vicky entered their house, and threatened them with death. They also tried to molest the complainant’s mother.
Fed up with continued harassment, Shakir Beg attempted suicide by consuming poison on 11 December 2025. He has been hospitalised after that. The complaint states that he has been facing their harassment for last 7 years, but could not gather the courage to confront them as they are rich and powerful.
Based on the complaint of the daughter, police registered an FIR under sections 318(4), 333, 352, 351 (3), 75 and 61 of the BNS. A total of 10 people has been named in the FIR, including Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, his brother-in-law Mohsin Raza, Ikram Beg, Vicky and others.
This new case adds to the mounting legal challenges facing Maulana Tauqeer Raza, the founder of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council. He has been named in multiple cases stemming from the ‘I Love Muhammad’ riots in Bareilly, which erupted in late September 2025, injuring dozens of police personnel.
The demonstrations, organized by Raza’s group, were a response to perceived insults against the Prophet Muhammad, but the demonstrations turned violent and cops were attacked by Maulana’s supporters in Bareilly and other places.
Raza was arrested on September 27, 2025, and named as the primary accused in the violence, along with eight others initially sent to judicial custody.
Raza has secured conditional bail in four out of the 10 cases filed against him, including those tied directly to the Bareilly riots. However, he remains in jail due to pending bail applications in the remaining six cases.
