On Friday, 19th December, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Bangladesh informed that the floor manager of the factory where the Hindu man Dipu Chandra Das worked, handed him over to the angry Muslim mob for brutal lynching.
This led to Dipu, a 28-year-old worker, getting beaten to death by the crowd on Thursday, 18th December, in the Mymensingh Bhaluka area, where his body was hung from a tree branch and set on fire.
Dipu had been working for two years at Pioneer Knitwears BD Ltd, a readymade garment factory in Bhaluka. He came from an ancestral home in Tarakanda. His brother filed a case against unknown people for the murder.
On Saturday, 20th December, RAB held a press conference and announced they had arrested 10 people linked to the killing. RAB-14 Director Naimul Hassan said floor manager Alamgir Hossain, 38, and quality manager Miraz Hossain Akon, 46, from the same factory. RAB caught seven suspects, while police grabbed three others.
The other eight arrested are Tarek Hossain, Limon Sarker, Manik Miah, Ershad Ali, Nijhum Uddin, Azmal Hasan Sagir, Shahin Miah, and Md Nazmul.
Naimul said investigators want to know why the manager gave Dipu to the crowd instead of calling the police. It might be old enmity or pressure from the mob.
