The body of a Hindu man was found in Badalpur village of Ajmiriganj subdivision in the Habiganj district of Bangladesh on Saturday morning (27th December). The 18-year-old Kamdeb Das had been missing since Thursday.
According to Tripura Info, Kamdeb Das was the son of Vishnupada Das and Durga Rani Das. After he went missing, his father filed a missing persons report in the Ajmiriganj police station. It is reported that no search operation was initiated by the police to find Kamdeb. On 27th December, around 9 am, some villagers found a dead body floating in a nearby pond. They identified the body as Kamdeb’s. On receiving information about the dead body, the police arrived on the spot and sent it to Ajmiriganj hospital for a post-mortem. Kamdeb’s body reportedly had a strangulation mark.
The incident has sent a shockwave through the village, which has around 15% Hindu population. The Hindu residents of the village are scared and panicked.
The incident comes days after a Hindu man, Dipu Chandra Das, was lynched and set on fire on the allegations of blasphemy in Mymensingh’s Bhaluka Upazila of Bangladesh. The horrifying incident happened on the night of 18th December in Square Master Bari’s Dubalia Para neighbourhood.
