What began as the Madhya Pradesh government’s marquee urban renewal project for the Simhastha festival in 2028 — the Kumbh Mela held in Ujjain every 12 years — had ended in an abrupt retreat for Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, marking the first major concession of his tenure.Under pressure from RSS-affiliated farmers’ outfit Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) and backed by the Sangh leadership, the BJP government late on Monday rolled back its ambitious land pooling scheme, a project the CM once described as the “cornerstone of the transformation of Ujjain”, his home turf. The decision, following weeks of backchannel talks with…

Every time teenagers open social media, they see a stream of perfect faces, smooth skin, glowing complexions, and camera angles that seem to erase every flaw. What they often don’t realise is that most of these images aren’t real. They’re filtered, edited, or enhanced to the point that even the people in them might not recognise themselves. And then they start to aspire for that perfection. When not attained, the depression seeps in. What is the way out? Add Zee News as a Preferred Source Dr Rajat Gupta, a board-certified plastic surgeon based in New Delhi, shares, “Teens today don’t…

Graying hair has long been considered a one-way street. A stubborn, visible reminder that aging starts well before we feel it. But new findings from researchers at NYU Langone Health suggest that this biological marker might be reversible—not with cosmetic dyes, but through targeted stem cell intervention. In a landmark study published in Nature, scientists discovered that the process of graying is not necessarily the result of pigment loss, stem cell exhaustion, or aging per se. Instead, the underlying cause may be a failure of melanocyte stem cells (McSCs) to relocate within the hair follicle as needed during the hair…

RJD’s Lok Sabha MP and senior party strategist Sudhakar Singh speaks to The Indian Express on why the party suffered a setback reminiscent of its 2010 rout, when its tally fell to 22, why its EBC experiment failed, allegations of electoral manipulation, and the road ahead. Excerpts: We were in a worse situation in 2010, yet we came back strongly. We will bounce back again. Our problems are not very big; we will resolve them. The artificially created vote by the ruling party will burst like a bubble. We will rise stronger. What went wrong? Story continues below this ad…
