In another success in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, the security forces eliminated around seven Maoists, including three women, in the early morning on Wednesday (19th November)in the forest region of Maredumilli in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district. One of the three terror plot accused arrested by the Gujarat ATS in the recent Ricin terror conspiracy case was assaulted inside Sabarmati Central Jail of Ahmedabad. The incident took place early on Tuesday morning (18th November), within hours of the trio being sent to the prison. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman and founder of Al Falah University in Haryana, on Tuesday, 18th November evening, on money laundering charges. In a massive operation involving more than 100 personnel of the Forest Department, a 12-year-old elephant trapped in a canal at Shivanasamudra in Karnataka’s Mandya district since Sunday was successfully rescued Tuesday after a two-day operation. The elephant had ventured into a canal connected to a private power generation facility to drink water, but was trapped due to the steep walls and strong currents.
