A college student was killed after a 20-year-old man allegedly poisoned her and pushed her into a canal near Bhadravathi in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, the police said. Swathi, 19, went missing on September 21, and her body was recovered from the canal on Tuesday evening, following which the police arrested the man, identified as Surya. G K Mithun Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Shivamogga, told reporters that Surya forcefully took Swathi to a canal located on the outskirts of Bhadravathi. “As per the complaint received, he poisoned her with an insecticide first before pushing her into the canal,” he said.
