In a big success against drug trafficking, Sribhumi Police on Thursday, 13th November, seized a huge quantity of Ganja worth nearly Rs 2.5 crore during a regular naka-checking drive at Patharkandi. The operation took place near the Kathaltoli Police Outpost, which falls under the Bazarichara Police Station.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma posted about the drug bust.

During the check, police stopped a Bolero vehicle with registration number TR/05/J/1807. When officers searched the car, they found around five quintals of Ganja carefully packed and hidden inside. According to the initial investigation, the vehicle was coming from Tripura and heading toward Patharkandi through Kathaltoli when the police team intercepted it.
Before the police could arrest the driver, he managed to escape from the spot. Soon after, the police launched a manhunt to track down the absconding driver. Officials said efforts are being made to identify him as well as others connected with this illegal activity.
Police officers said that their quick action and good coordination helped make this big recovery possible. They also mentioned that this is one of the biggest drug seizures in the area in recent times. The seizure once again shows how drug smuggling continues to be a major challenge along interstate routes in the region.
The police have started further investigation to find out where the Ganja came from and where it was supposed to be taken. Teams are also working to uncover the entire network involved in this smuggling attempt. Authorities have confirmed that all seized items will be handled as per legal procedures, and necessary action will be taken against everyone linked to the case.
The Sribhumi Police have said they will continue such checking drives and stay alert to stop the movement of illegal drugs. They have appealed to the public to cooperate with the police by reporting any information related to drug activities in their areas.
