In a significant counter-terror operation, the Gujarat ATS has arrested Shama Parveen, a woman allegedly linked to Al-Qaeda and Jamaat-e-Islami, from Manorayanapalya in Hebbal, Bengaluru. Originally from Jharkhand, Parveen had been living in the city with her mother and brother. She was allegedly involved in spreading jihadi propaganda online and sharing provocative content supporting extremist ideologies.

The arrest follows the interrogation of four terror suspects recently detained in Gujarat. During questioning, Parveen’s name surfaced, prompting the Gujarat ATS to track her digital footprint. Surveillance revealed that she had been sharing jihadi videos on Facebook and Instagram, including content from Pakistani radical preacher Israr Ahmad, while sitting in her room unnoticed by family members.
According to officials, she had been radicalized for over three years and was actively promoting extremist ideology under the guise of religious discourse. Gujarat ATS obtained a transit warrant from Bengaluru’s 8th ACMM Court and took her into custody to present her before a local court in Gujarat, where she will face intense interrogation.
Authorities suspect she may have had deeper online links with international terror networks. Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of her involvement and connections.
