Bengaluru: The recent toll fee revision by NICE has come under govt scanner: The public works department issued a notice to the managing director of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Ltd for revising the toll without its consent.PWD issued the notice on July 8, saying toll revision was done in violation of the framework agreement and cannot be accepted. With effect from July 1, NICE hiked toll for all categories of vehicles. The fee for a single journey for cars was increased from Rs 285 to Rs 306, which amounts to Rs 7 per km. With the revision, the 45km stretch, linking Hosur Road with Tumakuru Road, has been dubbed as the most expensive toll road in the city. PWD principal secretary Amlan Aditya Biswas told TOI, “We issued notice to NICE on two grounds: They should have informed the govt on fee revision and implemented the same only after approval. Toll revision above 10 per cent is not acceptable.” He said NICE is yet to respond to the notice and “further action will be taken after that”.
