In a major political development from Maharashtra, the BJP and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) have reached a seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. As per the consensus, BJP will contest 128 seats, while Shiv Sena (Shinde) will fight on 79 seats, taking the total agreed seats to 207. The remaining 20 seats will be decided jointly by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in consultation with senior leaders. Sources say the final details of the alliance’s seat-sharing formula are likely to be announced within the next one or two days. This agreement is being seen as a significant boost for the ruling alliance ahead of the crucial BMC polls.
