A chilling case of sexual assault involving senior executives of an IT firm has come to light in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, triggering outrage and raising serious questions about abuse of power and trust in corporate spaces.
A woman manager has accused her company’s CEO, Jitesh Prakash Sisodia, the firm’s woman executive head, Shilpa Sirohi, and her husband, Gaurav Sirohi, of gang raping her inside a car after a late-night party. All three have been arrested following the registration of an FIR and are currently in police custody.
Night of the incident
According to the survivor’s statement, the incident dates back to December 20, when she attended a birthday celebration hosted by Sisodia at a hotel in Udaipur’s Shobagpura area. The party reportedly began in the evening and continued well past midnight, during which alcohol was consumed by several attendees.
As the night progressed, the woman’s health reportedly deteriorated. At around 1.30 am, Sisodia, Shilpa Sirohi, and Gaurav Sirohi offered to drop her home. Gaurav was driving the car, while the survivor was seated in the back along with Sisodia and Shilpa.
During the journey, the car allegedly stopped at a shop where the accused purchased a substance described by the survivor as resembling cigarettes. She told the police that after consuming it, she lost consciousness.
Assault inside the car
The survivor has alleged that while she was unconscious, the three accused sexually assaulted her inside the moving vehicle. She further claimed that each of them took turns to rape her.
When she regained consciousness later, she reportedly felt severe pain and noticed injuries on different parts of her body. She also found that some of her belongings, including jewellery and undergarments, were missing.
Medical findings and crucial evidence
A medical examination conducted after the complaint confirmed sexual assault and recorded injuries consistent with the survivor’s allegations.
Crucially, the woman told the police that the car’s dashcam had recorded the incident. The footage allegedly captured not only the assault but also a conversation between the accused, strengthening the case against them.
The survivor approached the police on December 23 and submitted the dashcam recording along with her complaint.
Arrests and investigation
Based on the survivor’s statement, medical evidence, and electronic proof, the police arrested Sisodia, Shilpa Sirohi, and Gaurav Sirohi. They were produced before a court and remanded to four days of police custody.
Investigators have said that a thorough probe is underway, including forensic analysis of the dashcam footage and examination of other evidence. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
