Canadian law enforcement has issued a countrywide arrest warrant for 32-year-old Abdul Ghafoori, suspected of killing a 30-year-old woman, Himanshi Khurana, in Toronto last week. The Toronto authorities received a missing person’s report in the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street W area on Friday night (19th December) at around 10:40 pm (local time). After receiving the report, the authorities initiated an investigation.
As per the Toronto Police, a call for a missing person in the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West area was received at around 10:41 PM on 19 December. The police launched a search accordingly, and on Saturday (20th December), at around 6:30 am (local time), the police located a missing female deceased inside a residence.
Her death was classified as a homicide. Subsequently, the Homicide Unit of the police took charge of the investigation. The police dentified Abdul Ghafoori of Toronto as the suspect. Police believe that the victim and the accused were known to each other and that they were in an “intimate partner relationship.”
Thereafter, the police released photos of the victim and the accused. “We have released an image of the suspect, and that is out there, and we’re appealing to the public; if anybody would happen to know where this man is, please call the police,” a police spokesperson reportedly said.
The Indian Consulate in Canada expressed shock and grief over the incident and is in touch with the family of the victim.
