In a heartbreaking update regarding the death of Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh, investigators have officially confirmed that there is no evidence that he ever insulted any religion. Dipu, a Hindu man working at a garment factory, was killed by a large mob on 18th December in Mymensingh Bhaluka area, after rumours started spreading that he had made offensive comments.
However, after looking into the matter closely, the authorities found that these claims simply weren’t true.

Md Samsuzzaman, a commander with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) explained that their team checked Dipu’s Facebook and other records but found nothing offensive. When they spoke to the people living in the area and their coworkers at the factory, they couldn’t find a single person who actually heard Dipu say anything disrespectful. Instead, everyone they interviewed admitted that they hadn’t seen or heard anything themselves.
It has become clear that this entire tragedy was started by a rumour about Dipu insulting the Prophet Muhammad. Because people acted on these stories without checking the facts, a man lost his life for something he never did. The investigation proves that the anger that led to the lynching was based on false information rather than any real action by Dipu.
