“The victim met Vikas eight months ago, and they fell in love. He took her to his home in Magadi in September and sexually assaulted her. Vikas also secretly recorded the act and later started to blackmail her, threatening to leak the video on social media if she failed to obey his words,” a police officer said.
Vikas, who continued to blackmail her, asked her to visit his home in October again, and all three accused allegedly raped her one after another. As the blackmail continued, the victim refused to obey Vikas. He then allegedly sent the video to her on Instagram, threatening her with dire consequences.
The victim then informed her family members, and they approached the Magadi police with a complaint on Wednesday. The police, who tracked the accused and arrested them on Thursday, also seized their mobile phones to see if the intimate videos were shared with others on social media.
The accused have been booked under sections 70 (gang rape), 71 (punishment for repeat offenders), and 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
