A man named Farooq murdered his wife and two minor daughters and buried their bodies inside the septic tank in the courtyard of his house in the Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in Garhi Daulat village, which falls under the Kandhla police station area, on 8th December.
The police took the accused, Farooq, into custody for questioning after his wife and daughters were reported missing for several days. He confessed to killing his wife, Tahira and their two daughters, Afreen and Sahreen. Police said Farooq admitted he shot his wife and elder daughter, while he strangled his younger daughter to death.
According to officials, Tahira and the two girls had been missing for almost ten days. Farooq’s father grew suspicious and called the police since he thought something serious had happened. On questioning, Farooq first attempted to mislead the police. Later, after intense interrogation, he confessed to the crime and disclosed the location of the two bodies.

During interrogation, Farooq stated that he was annoyed with his wife and daughters for not following his advice to stay indoors and cover themselves with burqa when stepping outside. He claimed this anger led him to plan their murder. To carry out the crime, he allegedly bought an illegal country-made pistol and cartridges from Kairana. He also had a pit dug in the courtyard of his house earlier, claiming it was meant for building a toilet.
Police said Tahira was staying at her paternal house at the time. Farooq called her back to his home and, on the night of 8th December, woke her up to make tea for him and shot her. The sound of the gunshot woke up the two daughters. He then shot the elder daughter, Afreen, and strangled the younger one, Sahreen. After killing all three, he buried their bodies in the septic tank in the house courtyard.
On Tuesday evening (16th December), acting on Farooq’s confession, police dug up the septic tank and recovered the bodies of the woman and her two daughters. Senior Superintendent of Police Shamli, NP Singh, confirmed that the information about the missing woman and children had been received through the village head. During the investigation, Farooq confessed to the murders. The accused has been arrested, and further legal proceedings are underway.
