Another lady director is on the anvil—this is the first opinion one forms after watching the debut direction of the short film by senior journalist Sunayana Suresh, Mouna Raaga. The craftsmanship of Sunayana is clean and tidy. She has not stretched scenes unnecessarily but has delivered through dialogues in certain places, making Mouna Raaga a watchable short film from a journalist colleague.
Sunayana Suresh has produced and directed a twenty-minute short film titled Mauna Raaga. Screened at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival, the film has won an award along with immense appreciation. Recently, a special screening of the short film was held in Bengaluru.
Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, Priyanka Upendra, K.M. Chaitanya, Pannaga Bharana, Bhavana Rao, Meghana Gaonkar, Manvita Kamath, Praveen Tej, Shubra Aiyappa, Raksh, Prabhu Mundkur, Disha Madan and many other Sandalwood celebrities attended the special screening of Mouna Raaga and wholeheartedly wished Sunayana for her debut effort.

Actress Shruti Hariharan, who has acted in the short film, said, “I have known Sunayana for many years. I am happy that she has now become a director. Sunayana has portrayed the daily struggles of women in a touching manner within twenty minutes. Short films are the right platform for those who are interested in direction to showcase their talent. Sunayana has done that perfectly. The mother–son sentimental sequences are also very heartwarming,” she said.
“Mouna Raaga is my first directorial short film. It has already been screened at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival and has won an award and appreciation. The film will soon be released on an OTT platform.
