The talented and melodious music director of Kannada cinema, Abhiman Roy, a state award winner, has set a new record with his first production of a Kannada film, with his brother Ashok Roy making his debut as director.
Abhiman Roy has prepared a song in 34 languages for the new film, and never before has such an attempt been made. Starting with Kannada and later moving to several other languages, the lyrics were translated and sung by different singers. Dr. Varadaraju, a neurologist, and Sharanya feature in this retro song. Badariprasad, an effortless singer, delivered the song in at least five languages.
Here is another new feat created by Abhiman Roy: he invited 34 guests to the Kalavidhara Bhavana Dr. Ambarish Auditorium to release the song made in 34 languages.
The languages selected for the melodious song are Kannada, Kundapura Kannada, Kolar Kannada, Mangaluru Kannada, Mandya Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Urdu Kannada, Kanglish, Kolar Telugu, Chennai Tamil, Tulu, Shivalli Tulu, Are Basha, Konkani, Kodava, Lambani, Beary, Havyaka, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Odia, Bengali, Goan Konkani, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, English, Russian, Italian, Japanese and Arabic.
Working on this one song in 34 languages for the last two months, Abhiman Roy completed the herculean task and met the media on Monday evening, screening a few of the versions with pride and happiness.
In fact, there were 37 guests on the dais at Kalavidhara Bhavana, and such a large number of guests for an audio release event was also a first.
Among those present were Sri Abhinava Swamiji, Lahari Velu, Balaji, Bindu, S.M. Ramesh, Dr. Venkataramana, Yallappa, Venkatesh, Manju Swaraj, Shivaraj, Parashuram, Thyagara, Dr. Mahendra, Naveen Raghu, Bhagwan, Syed, Dr. Mahesh, Madhusudhan, Venkat Gowda, Murali, Ashwin Gowda, Rajanna, Gajendra, Vijeth, Araluru Rajanna, Venkatesh Appigere, Raghura, senior PRO Nagendra, Deepthi, Prashanth, Sonu and others.
Abhiman Roy initially wanted the song in seven languages, but the quality of the retro style demanded many more. “We stopped only at 34 languages,” Roy said while addressing the media, thanking Dr. Varadaraj and Nalini for their support in the venture.
Lahari Velu, who has witnessed many music events in the last 50 years of Lahari Recording Company, said he felt extremely happy about Abhiman Roy’s achievement.
Ashok Roy disclosed that this was a new team effort and that the song was released like a festival. “We have finished 60 percent of the shooting, and by March next year it will be on the silver screen. There are five songs in the film Plus 2. Before the interval there is one climax, after the interval there is another climax, and there is one more climax presented in an interesting style,” he said.
