The Bengaluru police have recently booked the boyfriend of Kannada actor Ashika Ranganath’s deceased cousin and his mother for abetment to suicide.
Ranganath’s cousin Achala Harsha, 22, was an engineering graduate from Hassan and died by suicide at her relative’s home under Puttenahalli police station limits in Bengaluru on November 22.
Harsha’s father complained that his daughter died by suicide after finding out that her boyfriend, Mayank Gowda, was in a relationship with another woman. Harsha’s father complained that his daughter died by suicide after finding out that her boyfriend, Mayank Gowda, was in a relationship with another woman. When confronted by Harsha, Mayank Gowda allegedly told her that he was going to marry the other woman and reportedly asked her to “go and die by suicide”.

Meanwhile, the purported screenshot of a chat between Harsha and Mayank Gowda was leaked on social media, wherein Harsha wrote, “Even after cheating on me, you still have the audacity to leave me, and honestly, that’s fine. I will never forgive you in this lifetime. I know my words may not mean anything to you, but you’ve shattered me into a million pieces.”
It has also been alleged that Mayank Gowda physically assaulted Harsha and created a ruckus in her house on a few instances, owing to which Harsha’s family was not much in favour of their marriage lately. But it was Harsha who convinced her family that her boyfriend would reform. The couple, who were distant relatives, had been in a relationship for about a year.
Mayank Gowda’s mother, Myna Gowda, who has also been booked, had met Harsha’s mother to propose marriage and suggested that the couple live together in Bengaluru to understand each other better.

The First Information Report (FIR) regarding Harsha’s death was first registered at Hassan city police station, but it has been transferred to the Puttenahalli police station in Bengaluru. eportedly asked her to “go and die by suicide”.
