A shocking incident took place on Saturday (15th November) night in Ferozepur when the son of a senior RSS leader was shot dead in the middle of a busy market area. The victim has been identified as Naveen Arora, son of Punjab RSS leader Baldev Raj Arora. For generations, Naveen’s family has been associated with the RSS. His grandfather, Deenanath Arora, was a leader of the Hindu organisation during the pre-independence era.
Naveen ran a shop in the Mochi Bazaar area and lived in the local Sadhu Chand Chowk. According to police, he was heading home after closing his shop when two unidentified men approached him and fired multiple shots. One of the bullets hit him directly in the head, killing him on the spot. After the attack, the assailants fled towards Baan Bazaar. Police reached the location soon after receiving information and began their investigation.

A case of target killing
The shooting happened near a UCO Bank branch in the crowded market area. As soon as gunshots were fired, people in the market panicked and ran for safety. Locals rushed Naveen to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and are now scanning CCTV footage from shops in the market to identify the attackers. Initial investigation suggests that this is a case of targeted killing, as the shooters appeared to have followed Naveen and attacked him at close range.
Soon after the incident came to light, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took to X and called it a “complete law and order collapse in Punjab”.

“Even as VVIP security is provided to failed netas of AAP from Delhi, even as police is made to take revenge from political rivals of Kejriwal, people of Punjab suffer,” he wrote on X.
“Whether it’s the killing of Sidhu Moosewala or the murder of Sandeep Thapar. Murder
Or Sonu Cheema Killing, or Vikas Bagga Murder, or grenade attacks. Law and order in Punjab has failed thanks to AAP. Super CM Kejriwal and nominal CM Bhagwant Mann must be held accountable,” he added.
The murder triggered fear and anger in the city. Shopkeepers shut down the entire market in protest. BJP leaders and traders took to the streets, raising slogans against the state government and the police administration. They said that criminals in Punjab no longer fear the law and that daily shootings have become a routine problem.
Local BJP leaders demanded the immediate arrest of the killers. Business association president Ashwini Mehta also strongly condemned the incident, saying the murder shows how badly Punjab’s law and order situation has deteriorated. He added that unless the government acts seriously, such violent incidents will continue.
Meanwhile, multiple police teams have been deployed to track down the shooters. The city has been placed on alert, and checkpoints have been set up across major routes to prevent the attackers from escaping.
