Dr Mohammad Arif of Kanpur’s Cardiology Institute has been apprehended by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, regarding the investigation into the fatal explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, amid the discovery of an inter-state Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module. He reportedly kept in close communication with Dr Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow.
She was given the responsibility of establishing the JeM women’s wing, Jamaat ul-Mominaat’s base in India and recruiting new members by Masood Azhar’s sister, Sadia Azhar.
According to investigative agency sources, her phone records revealed Arif’s name. He was arrested from his Ashok Nagar rental home for interrogation by several agencies in Lucknow. Sources indicated that some individuals have been under suspicion based on the conversations that were obtained from Shaheen’s cell phone, reported India Today.
Arif is a NEET-SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Super Speciality) 2024 batch student, attended Al Falah University in Haryna’s Faridabad and is from Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kashmiri doctor Dr Mohammad Umar un Nabi exploded his Hyundai i20 at one of Delhi’s most popular tourist spots. He reacted in panic after members of the terror group were captured along with 2900 kilogrammes of explosives, assault rifles and other ammunition.
“Dr Umar, a member of the module, changed his location from Al Falah Medical College campus following the crackdown on other members of his module. He is the one who was driving the car used in the blast, as corroborated by CCTV footage. The blast was caused by the very same explosives that were found in Faridabad hideouts. Whether this blast was premeditated or accidental is a matter of investigation,” an official informed earlier.
Two other Kashmiri doctors, Adil Ahmed Rather and Muzammil Shakeel (Musaib Ganaie), have also been nabbed by the authorities. They were also employed at the Al Falah University.
Furthermore, a man named Faheem, who parked the red Ford EcoSport connected to the explosion in the Khandwali neighbourhood, has also been taken into custody by Faridabad Police. He is related to Umar Un Nabi and apparently communicated with him prior to the instance, according to Intelligence Agency Sources.
