The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday passed a resolution strongly condemning the terrorist car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on the evening of November 10, which killed 13 people and injured many others. Significantly, the cabinet called the incident a heinous terror incident perpetrated by anti-national forces, confirming that it was a terror attack on Indian soil.
A statement issued by the cabinet said, “The Cabinet pays its solemn respects to the victims of this senseless act of violence and conveys its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.” The cabinet also observed two minutes of silence to honour the victims and expressed deep grief over the loss of innocent lives.
It also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and praised the quick response of doctors, emergency services, and security agencies. “The Cabinet unequivocally condemns this dastardly and cowardly act that has led to the loss of innocent lives,” the statement added.
Reaffirming India’s “unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” the Cabinet directed authorities to probe the incident thoroughly. It stated, “The Cabinet directs that the investigation into the incident be pursued with the utmost urgency and professionalism so that the perpetrators, their collaborators, and their sponsors are identified and brought to justice without delay. The situation continues to be closely monitored at the highest levels of the government.”
The resolution underscored the government’s resolve to safeguard the lives and well-being of all Indians, consistent with its enduring commitment to national security and the safety of every citizen.
Earlier in the day, PM Narendra Modi visited the LNJP Hospital in Delhi to meet those injured in the blast near Red Fort. He interacted with the victims and their families, inquired about their treatment, and conveyed his heartfelt prayers for their swift and complete recovery. Expressing deep concern over the incident, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring justice.
“Those behind the conspiracy will be brought to justice,” PM Modi asserted.
