Karnataka to establish a 300-acre Japan Industrial Park in Tumakuru under KIADB, aimed at attracting Japanese investments and boosting bilateral trade and manufacturing collaboration.
The Karnataka government has unveiled plans to establish a second Japan Industrial Park at Vasanthanarasapura in Tumakuru, located along the Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC). Spread over 300 acres, the new industrial park is designed to attract fresh Japanese investments and further strengthen bilateral trade relations between India and Japan.
The announcement was made at the third edition of the India–Japan Business Summit (IJBS) in Bengaluru, organized by the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC). The project will be developed by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), the state’s nodal agency for industrial infrastructure. An official memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two sides is expected soon.

Officials said the Tumakuru Japan Industrial Park will focus exclusively on Japanese companies, promoting industrial clustering and technology exchange. It will mirror the success of the Taiwan Park and Aerospace Park, where Thai industries have already begun operations.
The new park at Vasanthanarasapura Phase-II will target investments in automotive, electronics, precision engineering, and machine tools, sectors where Japanese expertise is globally recognized. The project is expected to generate hundreds of new jobs and attract high-value foreign direct investment (FDI), providing a major economic boost to Tumakuru district.
According to reports, the development work for the park has already begun and applications for Japanese firms will open within two months. The park will feature world-class infrastructure, including well-laid internal roads, reliable power and water supply, and modern logistics hubs designed for high-tech industries.
Located on the CBIC corridor, the park offers direct connectivity to Bengaluru, Chennai Port, and Kempegowda International Airport, making it ideal for export-oriented manufacturing units that rely on fast logistics networks.

The 2025 India–Japan Business Summit, themed “Make in India with Japan, for the Globe,” emphasized both nations’ shared commitment to deepening industrial and technological cooperation. The event brought together top business leaders, investors, and government representatives to explore opportunities in manufacturing, renewable energy, and advanced technology sectors.
The establishment of the second Japan Industrial Park marks a major milestone in India–Japan economic relations, reinforcing Japan’s support for the ‘Make in India’ initiative and Karnataka’s growing reputation as a hub for global manufacturing in southern India.
Once operational, the park will not only strengthen Karnataka’s industrial ecosystem but also become a key destination for Japanese small and medium enterprises (SMEs) looking to expand their footprint in India.
