Here is a man who has faced many trials and tribulations — Aryan Venkatesh. He has now made a leap into his second film, My Name is KD, after overcoming immense difficulties.
A farmer who had run away from home several times, Aryan earlier directed a moderate success titled Inti Nimma Bhaira before the Covid pandemic. The film received decent response across several platforms and did not cause losses to its producer.
Now, despite financial struggles and taking loans, Aryan Venkatesh has completed his second film, My Name is KD – My Name is Kanakahalli Dase Gowda. (It’s worth noting that there’s another big-budget film titled KD, featuring Dhruva Sarja and directed by Jogi Prem for KVN Films.)
The trailer of Arya’s film was unveiled at a crowded gathering at Sri Renukamba Digital Theater, in the presence of former KFCC President Bama Harish, Teshi Venkatesh, and Shivashanker as chief guests.
Renowned director Teshi Venkatesh, known as a stormy petrel in the Kannada film industry, has seen Arya’s journey closely. He even witnessed Arya’s darkest moments when he almost gave up on life. Teshi expressed heartfelt wishes for the film’s success, remarking that “small films are now being swallowed up by big releases.”
A very talkative and straightforward person, Arya Venkatesh revealed that he had written scripts filling “three gunny bags,” but later condensed them into proper screenplays. He has worked extremely hard to bring his vision to the screen. Currently employed in the orthopedic department at Victoria Hospital, Aryan has worn many hats throughout his life before realizing his cinematic dreams.
Director KJ Chiku described My Name is KD as the story of a poor boy who rises to become an MLA. In the film, the protagonist undertakes a monumental struggle to save his ailing mother, symbolizing perseverance and ambition. The film has received a UA certificate from the censor board, and encouragingly, there’s already strong business interest in its release.
Suprith Kaati plays the villain, while Srinivas, a seasoned stage and screen actor, takes on another significant role. Talented music director Hitan Haasan has composed four songs for the film, with lyrics by Dr. V. Nagendra Prasad, Manu, and others.
Bhavani plays the female lead; she has been acting in television serials since childhood. The supporting cast includes Yethiraj, Honnavalli Krishna, Girish Jatthi, Arasu Maharaj, Rohini, and others.
With determination, creativity, and courage, Arya Venkatesh’s My Name is KD stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit of small filmmakers fighting their way to success.
