A 27-year-old man accused of raping a minor and impregnating her died allegedly by suicide suicide in Mysuru, Karnataka, leaving behind a voice note stating that he was falsely charged and did not have any connection with the girl.
According to a police officer, he was accused of impregnating a 17-year-old college student and was previously arrested. On Sunday, he sent a voice note to many people associated with him.
In the voice message, he said, “I am not responsible for the pregnancy of the girl. I don’t have any relationship with her and have been falsely accused. The physical education teacher of the college is responsible. In order to save the reputation of the college, I have been falsely framed in the case.”
“I never had any relationship with the girl, and I was falsely accused (of impregnating her). I am unable to live any longer with dignity. Just because I was talking to the girl, I was being framed. They saved the PE teacher and the college’s reputation, but made me a scapegoat. I want the police to conduct a DNA test on the girl and find out the truth. I don’t want to live anymore and have decided to end it,” he added in the voice note.
Soon after the voice notes reached family members, they approached the police. On Sunday, they found his mobile phone, slippers and jacket near a canal. The fire and emergency personnel, with the help of locals, later retrieved his body.
“We have taken up a case in connection with the death and will probe further. We will question the college management and also the PE teacher whom he has named in the voice note,” said a police officer.
