The police arrested a 22-year-old grocery delivery agent in Bengaluru on Sunday for allegedly sexually harassing a Brazilian woman at her flat.
The accused, identified as Kumar Rao Pawar, is a private college student in the city who works part-time for Blinkit, the police said. He has been remanded to judicial custody at Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara, for 14 days.
According to the police, the alleged incident occurred on October 17, after the 21-year-old victim, who works as a model for a private company, ordered groceries online.
“When the doorbell rang around 3.30 pm, the Brazilian woman opened the door and found Kumar with her orders. He allegedly misbehaved and touched her inappropriately on the pretext of handing over the parcel. Shocked by the incident, she pushed him away and locked the door,” the police said in the First Information Report.
The woman initially remained silent but later shared her traumatic experience with her roommates. They informed her employer, who reviewed CCTV footage confirming the incident. Her colleague filed a formal complaint on October 25.
“The accused was a diploma student. He worked as a part-time delivery agent,” said Babasab Nemagoud, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North Division Bengaluru.
According to the police, the woman has been in the city for two months and was residing in the accommodation provided by her employer. She was staying with two other foreign nationals who were also working as models.
