TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — The Associated Press has withdrawn its story that erroneously reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office issued a statement that said: “We are not a protectorate of the United States. Israel is the one that will decide on its security.” In response to a reporter’s question about whether Israel was a “protectorate,” Netanyahu said the notion was “hogwash.” AP will publish a new version of the story.
