Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday that Information Technology/Biotechnology Minister Priyank Kharge would be provided with protection in the wake of threat calls he had received following his petition to ban Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activities on government premises.
Speaking to reporters at Mysuru, Siddaramaiah said that “evil forces” always resorted to such tactics. “He is not afraid of the threats,” the chief minister said.
Home Minister G Parameshwara said the Government had taken the issue seriously. “We will investigate who made the threat calls and from where,” he said.
The Government will take a call on Kharge’s petition to the chief minister that sought a ban on the RSS activities at public grounds and in government and aided schools, and other government land and buildings, the home minister said.

“It is not right to threaten the minister. I have asked officials to look into all aspects,” he added.
A day after highlighting the threats and abuse hurled at him, Kharge posted the video of a call received from a person claiming to be an RSS member.
The caller is seen hurling abuses at Kharge while the minister asks whether he was trained at RSS shakhas to speak such language.
Kharge said the call was an example of how the “RSS filled the minds of the youth and children with impure thoughts”.

“This is just one sample from the continuous stream of threatening and abusive calls I have been receiving for the past few days. Is abusing one’s mother and sisters in the most despicable manner the kind of “culture” that is taught in their shakhas?” he wrote in Kannada, adding that whether BJP leaders would approve it if the mothers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi or RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat were abused in the same manner.
“Our struggle is not against individuals, but against the toxic mentality spread by the RSS—against the petty forces that brainwash innocent minds and corrupt their thinking… If they think these threats and abuses will shake me, that is only their illusion. My politics is not merely power-centered; it is ideological politics— people-centered politics that seeks to rescue innocent youth from this vicious cycle,” he added.
