The film Ugrayudham, starring Roaring Star Sriimurali, was launched at the Bande Mahakali Temple. The film is being produced by Jayaram Devasamudra under the banner of Suram Movies and marks the directorial debut of Puneeth Rudranag.
Ugrayudham is a period drama set around seven centuries ago. The muhurat ceremony was held grandly, with veteran producer S. A. Chinne Gowda, father of Sriimurali, giving the first clap for the opening shot. S. A. Chinne Gowda and P.R.O. Sudheendra Venkatesh unveiled the film’s title. Members of the film team were present and spoke during the event.
Producer Jayaram Devasamudra said that producing a film with a period-drama storyline under his banner makes him happy. He mentioned that Kannada films are gaining recognition at the global level and expressed confidence that Ugrayudham will also find its place among them. He thanked lead actor Sriimurali and director Puneeth Rudranag.

Director Puneeth Rudranag stated that Sriimurali and his family have supported him since he entered the film industry. He said that having Sriimurali as the lead actor in his debut directorial is significant. The film’s story is set 700 years ago, and shooting will begin in November. A large set is being constructed on 135 acres of land near Sakaleshpura, where major portions of the film will be shot.
He added that he is an admirer of Dr. Rajkumar and has watched several of his historical films, which inspired him to direct Ugrayudham. Producer Jayaram Devasamudra has assured full support to the project, and the film features an experienced team of artists and technicians. Further details will be announced later.
Sriimurali said that after Bagheera, he listened to around 200 stories, of which only three appealed to him. Two of those films, including Ugrayudham, recently held their muhurat at the Bande Mahakali Temple. He confirmed that Ugrayudham will be his next release after Bagheera.
He added that the story is set 700 years ago and that director Puneeth Rudranag is bringing it to the screen. The film is being produced on a large scale by Jayaram Devasamudra. Sriimurali mentioned that more updates about the film will be shared gradually.
