The decision addresses the long waiting times faced by candidates wishing to take German language proficiency tests at the Goethe Institute, currently the only recognized centre for both training and exams. In collaboration with the German Agency for International Healthcare Professionals (DeFa), the Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation (KVTSDC) will establish the new centre. It will not only conduct German language exams but also offer training for healthcare workers aspiring to work internationally.
Examination centre at Karnataka Technical Training Institute
The Karnataka Technical Training Institute in Bengaluru has been proposed as the site for the examination centre, pending final approval. The state is also providing free language courses in German, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, and English, with over 800 nurses already enrolled. This comes as Germany seeks to recruit up to 10,000 healthcare professionals, creating significant opportunities for Karnataka’s skilled workforce.
Sharan Prakash Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, emphasized that this initiative would promote ethical migration by helping workers gain language skills and internationally recognized certifications, boosting their global career prospects.
