Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 continues to dominate the global box office, showing no signs of slowing down after a spectacular opening during Dussehra. The period action drama, which started with a bang, has experienced impressive growth, surpassing the ₹200 crore milestone in just three days.

In its opening weekend, the film raked in ₹162.85 crore net (₹195.50 crore gross) in India alone. Saturday’s earnings showed a 20% jump from Friday, with an estimated ₹55 crore net. The film has performed exceptionally well in both its original Kannada version and the Hindi dubbed version, which alone has grossed over ₹40 crore domestically. The film’s night shows, particularly the Kannada version, recorded an astonishing 94% occupancy, reflecting its strong audience demand.
Worldwide total at ₹225 crores
Internationally, Kantara Chapter 1 has grossed over $3 million, taking its worldwide total to ₹225 crore. This impressive feat has seen it outpace recent big-budget releases such as Sikandar (₹176 crore) and Gangubai Kathiawadi (₹210 crore). Trade experts predict the film will easily cross ₹250 crore by the weekend’s close.
Directed and written by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 serves as a prequel to the 2022 sleeper hit Kantara, which earned over ₹400 crore globally. The star-studded cast includes Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah.
