The five helicopters swirled and glided in various formations, leaving colourful smoke trails and eliciting cheers from the assembled crowd. According to IAF officer Pallavi, the public’s energy and love serve as the team’s primary motivation. “Thank you so much. It is your love which gets us motivated. The energy and the love in the people are the source of my energy,” she said.
The Sarang team, formed in 2003, is the world’s only helicopter display team of its kind and has performed over 1,200 displays at more than 385 venues across India. Its aim is not only to entertain but also to inspire young people to consider careers in the Indian Armed Forces.
