The shooting for the film Childu, starring popular actor Cockroach Sudhi in the lead role, has officially begun. This marks his third film as a hero, following a long and successful journey of 12 years and over 120 films in villainous roles on the Kannada screen. The muhurtha (launch) ceremony for the film was held at the Bandi Mahakalamma Temple in Bengaluru.
Produced under the banner of Kamala Films by Chandrashekar K, Childu is directed by Prakash Hebbal, known for his earlier film Hafta. The film was officially launched with social worker Kiran Reddy unveiling the title and extending his best wishes to the team.
“This is my next directorial venture after Hafta. Childu will include all the elements that audiences expect—action, comedy, sentiment, and romance. The shoot has begun in Bengaluru and will move on to Bagalkot and other locations,” said director Prakash Hebbal. “Tara Anuradha, Ashwin Hasan, Vallabh, Uday Prasanna, and others are part of the cast. We are also in talks with Rangayana Raghu. Sudhi will be seen in a role he has never attempted before. More details will be revealed in the coming days.”
Cockroach Sudhi, who has risen from playing small roles to leading roles, shared his excitement:
“This is my third film as a lead actor. My previous two films—Fida and Karthik alias Cockroach—are in the final stages of shooting. I really liked the story of Childu when it was narrated to me by director Prakash. I was even happier when he told me I’d be playing the hero. The story suits me perfectly. Although it’s based on a rowdyism backdrop, it also has a love angle. There will be no change in my look,” said Sudhi, expressing gratitude to the media for their support throughout his career.
The film’s cinematography is handled by Siddu Kenchanahalli, who is working on his seventh project. Deepu is the editor. The cast also includes Ashwin Hasan—who revealed that he plays a politician, not a police officer—along with Vallabh and Uday Prasanna.
Basava, known for Tupaki, was also present as a guest during the media briefing of Childu.
