The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues Aadhaar cards, which are 12-digit identification numbers that contain vital information like name, address, age, gender, fingerprints, and iris data. The Aadhaar card serves as proof of Indian citizenship and is widely used for various services.

What UIDAI guidelines say?
According to UIDAI guidelines, multiple Aadhaar cards can be linked to a single mobile number, but with certain restrictions. The most notable of these is that only family members can link their Aadhaar cards to a shared mobile number. This means that parents can link their children’s Aadhaar cards to their own mobile numbers, and other family members can do the same for one another.
However, the linking of Aadhaar cards between non-family members, such as friends or acquaintances, to the same mobile number is strictly prohibited. This rule ensures that the Aadhaar linking system remains secure and prevents misuse or unauthorized access to personal information.
By adhering to these guidelines, UIDAI aims to make Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers more secure while ensuring that the service remains accessible to families who may not have individual mobile connections for all members.
