This classification aims to provide transparency in SMS communications and protect users from spam and scams.
• P – Promotional: Messages from brands or businesses, including offers, advertisements, and marketing content.
• S – Service: Informational updates, reminders, or general notifications related to services used by the recipient.
• T – Transactional: Critical messages such as OTPs, bank transaction alerts, purchase confirmations, or other essential transaction-related communications.
• G – Government: Official messages from government departments or bodies providing authorized information to citizens.
By understanding these suffixes, users can quickly identify whether a message is promotional, transactional, service-related, or from a government authority, reducing the risk of missing essential alerts or falling for scams.
This classification system has been implemented to bring more clarity and transparency to SMS communication, enabling users to safely manage their mobile communications in an increasingly digital world.
