Rolls-Royce, a global leader in power systems specialising in aerospace and defence engines, has inaugurated a 700-seater global capability and innovation centre (GCC) in Bengaluru, its largest and most advanced facility worldwide. Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil inaugurated the centre, located at Manyata Embassy Business Park, on Tuesday.
“The talented team in Bengaluru will now be powering Rolls-Royce’s global businesses. Initiatives like this have helped Bengaluru emerge as one of the top three cities globally for aerospace investment. Rolls-Royce has been contributing to the state’s aerospace industry from the very beginning, and this new GCC marks another milestone,” Patil said at the launch.
The new facility strengthens Rolls-Royce’s operations in India, where it employs over 3,000 people—more than 2,000 of whom are high-skilled engineers based in Karnataka, working both in-house and through partnerships.
Patil highlighted that Karnataka has emerged as India’s aerospace and defence hub, hosting a wide spectrum of global and domestic players, including Aequs, Collins Aerospace, Wipro, Mahindra Aerospace, Boeing, Airbus, and Pixxel. These companies contribute across the value chain—from propulsion and power systems to structural components, advanced technologies, and end-manufacturing.
Patil added that aerospace is a key driver of Karnataka’s manufacturing economy. “Our aerospace and defence policy is investor-friendly and provides attractive incentives. Here, research institutions, global companies, and home-grown startups collaborate to advance technology and manufacturing. The strong research culture in the state further complements and strengthens this ecosystem,” he said.
Reiterating the Government’s commitment to fostering investment, Patil said that forward-looking policies, infrastructure development, and ease-of-doing-business measures had positioned Karnataka as a trusted partner in building technologies of global relevance.
